Abstrak

Febrile seizures are seizure episodes that occur due to an increase in body temperature above 37°C caused by an extracranial process. This condition commonly occurs in children under five years of age because their immune systems have not yet fully developed. Febrile seizures can cause anxiety among family members; therefore, adequate knowledge and skills are needed to provide appropriate care for children. This study aimed to describe family nursing care for a child with febrile seizures in the working area of KTK Public Health Center, Solok City. The study used a descriptive method with a single-case study approach. Nursing care was provided from May 22 to May 27, 2025, involving one child who experienced febrile seizures. Data were collected through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted by comparing the results of nursing care with relevant theories. The assessment results showed that the family reported that the child had experienced fever for two days, with fluctuating body temperature. The family did not yet know how to prevent febrile seizures, perform proper warm compress techniques, or provide appropriate care for the child. The nursing problem identified was hyperthermia. The interventions provided included health education about febrile seizures, decision-making support, training in child care, environmental modification to prevent injury, and utilization of healthcare facilities. The evaluation showed that the family was able to understand and provide appropriate care for the child with febrile seizures, resulting in the resolution of hyperthermia and minimizing the risk of complications.
