Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a viral infection transmitted by mosquitoes and is typically characterized by symptoms such as sudden high fever (39–40°C), retro-orbital pain, muscle pain, joint pain, malaise, nausea, rash, lymphadenopathy, and thrombocytopenia. The most feared complications of dengue virus infection are bleeding and plasma leakage, which can lead to shock. Bleeding may occur due to impaired platelet function. To address thrombocytopenia, various approaches can be used, one of which is non-pharmacological therapy. The administration of red guava juice is believed to help increase platelet levels in patients with DHF. The purpose of this study is to increase platelet levels in children with Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) through the intervention of administering red guava juice. Research Method The method used is a descriptive method with a case study approach involving a sample of 2 patients. Results The first patient showed an increase in platelet levels after receiving red guava juice therapy for 3 days, administered twice daily (morning and evening) at a dose of 200 cc. Before the therapy, the platelet level was 13,000/mm³, and after therapy, it increased to 134,000/mm³. Thus, there was an increase of 56,000/mm³. The second patient did not receive the red guava juice intervention; the initial platelet count was 32,000/mm³, on the first day it was 13,000/mm³ (decrease of 19,000/mm³), on the second day 52,000/mm³ (increase of 39,000/mm³), and on the third day 141,000/mm³ (increase of 89,000/mm³).Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that the intervention of administering red guava juice can increase platelet levels in children with Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF).
